Around the London marathon in 2016, JustGiving launched a campaign called #PoweredByPeople, encouraging people to share who, and what, powered them through – giving thanks to the people who both sponsored them and got them through the gruelling months of training.
We created a social hub to collate the stories people were telling us, and also a personalised 'Finish Line' landing page for each fundraiser. The page took them through their marathon journey and gave them content to share with their supporters to encourage some last minute donations.
Be a Low Carbon Leader
For their 10th anniversary event, The Climate Group wanted to re-affirm their values and set our their vision for how 2020 should look in a low carbon world. It was also an opportunity to create a document that tied together the brand for our offices in four countries.
I created an A6 booklet that was handed to attendees – it needed to engage, inform and inspire them to join us.
World AIDS Day
Brighton-based HIV/AIDS Alliance approached Neo for help with their World AIDS Day campaign, Ready To Decide. Centred on the UN's Sustainable Development Goal 5 – Gender Equality – the campaign aimed to empower young girls in Africa who are twice as likely to contract HIV than young boys because of gender violence.
We created a set of images and messages that framed the basic rights that these girls aren't allowed – the right to choose when to have sex, to choose whether or not to have a relationship, the right to marry who they want to and the right to choose when to have a baby.
Our primary images showed girls in situations where those rights might be tested – with typography reminiscent of neon adult-shop signs to demonstrate the absurdity of the decisions being made for them.
LBS Awards Ceremony
The tight knit, long-standing and hilarious team at Littlehampton Book Services approached Neo to create an identity, presentation and videos for their annual staff awards ceremony in 2018. It was the final year for the ceremony, with the company being bought out, so it needed to both celebrate and thank the team that had put so much into the company.
There are some extremely entertaining characters at LBS with priceless stories, and when interviewed each colleague said the same: the best thing about the company was the people in it. Our strategist, Kelly and I created a visual identity that encapsulated this colourful group of humans and celebrated their good humour and willingness to help each other. We worked with filmmaker Angie Thomas to create a set of videos to be played throughout the evening.
Women's Environmental Network
At JustGiving, I get three days a year to devote to volunteering my skills at any charity I'd like. Last year, I did some work with the Women's Environmental Network (WEN) – a charity using feminist principles to work for environmental justice.
WEN are currently looking to develop their branding slightly, as they pretty much only have their logo and their brand red. I designed a folded DL membership leaflet for them that introduced a loose style for them to work around with new materials.
Avoiding the usual eco-charity "green" look, we added a new blue that takes the dark edge off the burgundy, and contrasted some fades on images (to aid with the sometimes low-resolution or busy images) with a bold line throughout.
JustGiving DNA Icon Set
At JustGiving, we wanted to stop using FontAwesome and have a set of our own icons for the UI and dev teams to use.
I created a full set, including crowdfunding category icons, based on a grid system with 45 degree angles to mirror the angles in our G logo mark.
Hand in Hive
I worked with indie music label, Hand in Hive, to create a logo and some brand assets to reflect their name and their fresh approach to management.
JustGiving Awards 2015
JustGiving's annual awards ceremony is an evening to recognise the exceptional fundraisers and charities that use our platform.
Each event has a visual theme, and in 2015 we focused on light – the light that shines from within our fundraisers and draws others towards them. We wanted to highlight the connections that JustGiving provides, while throwing light on some of the incredible things people do for charity.
We worked with external agencies to create the branding and films, and created the rest of the collateral in house. I art directed photo shoots, created stage animations and designed the printed materials, digital marketing and landing page for the event.
We received more than twice as many nominations as the previous year, and the event was hailed "the best JustGiving Awards ever". Plus, we had Superman there. Wins all around!
